Sewing Easy PLUS | 24 May 2017
This five week sewing course is aimed at those with some experience of sewing (such as how to thread a sewing machine and how to sew simple, plain seams), but who now want to learn how to make garments by taking measurements and creating their own patterns. Over the five weeks, sewists will learn how to make and decorate a top, shirt or blouse.
Week 1: Sewing sample stitches and taking measurements
Week 2: Drawing and cutting patterns and creating your shirt (or top/blouse) design
Week 3: Transferring paper patterns to a practice material (cotton calico), sewing and altering to fit your body shape
Week 4: Choosing fabric for your short / top / blouse, cutting from calico pattern and decorating
Week 5: Finishing your garment and arranging your samples folder
The course will start in 24 May 2017 and will run for five weeks. The course will take place on Wednesday evenings from 18:00 - 21:00 and will cost £140 per person (based on 10 sewists). Equipment and materials (including upcycled shirt/blouse/top fabric) will be provided - unless sewists choose to bring in their own shirt material.
